Are you sure you light both beacons on time? That seems to be all I can think of that goes wrong.

I dont think the extra Jade groups showed up and I sort of felt the bonus failed so I did not explore. I am certain I lit the beacons very fast though. In fact I finished lighting the second beacon just before the first monster group made it to the Phantoms.

I think you have run over time with lighting the fires
As was said when king asks you to speak to him after the last boss ,( you ignore his request and go out right gate)
(The 2 goups of Jade should be there) as with Dwarfs in each camp i usually map out while i am there and if any is missing you have overun your bonus time to light fires
Im sure its still 30 secs but could be wrong here
If you are doing it yourself after cutscene flag heros at jalis then when you lit one on left (i still hold onto the same torch) as running accross the center area just unflag ur hero/hench in case you are attacked..... and return to Jalis and await the waves that will attck you

Well I don't know, but you have to complete the mission to get the extra; you can't just light up beacons and get the reward
But maybe you already knew it >.>

I flag the heroes next to Jalis, Run grab the first torch, light the beacon, throw away the first torch to run faster then grab the second torch and light the second beacon.
I also noticed that if you run towards the first beacon over the battlements then when you reach the wooden overpass where the gate is, you can get body blocked by the monsters fighting the phantoms underneath.

That's the problem. You go AFK. The bonus is to light the torches, not /afk. Flag h/h by Jalis, bring a run stance or two, and run torch to beacon, light it, drop it, run to other, and do the same. Avoid getting body-blocked on left side by first mob attacking the allies under the bridge and be quick and it's no trouble.

You mis-read - he said he runs the torches THEN goes afk.
To OP - like Chrono Re delle Ere said, are you sure you haven't completed the bonus and quit without realising? The bonus sword only appears after talking to Jalis, during the final "flyover" cutscene. If you quit without talking to Jalis, you won't get the bonus.
Sorry if that sounded like an accusation of noobery - it's just something I've known others to do before now.

the #1 mistake most people make in the bonus for this mission is skip the cut scene. I learned a long time ago, (after many, many, many failures) that if i just let the little movie play, then run for the becons after, i get bonus. But you CAN NOT skip cut scene. Also, you have 30 sec. to light the 2 becons. Give it a shot. I know its what works for me.

- @Snograt: I do talk to Jalis at the end and get one sword.
- @Little Viking, yeah I do skip the cut scene, so thats the problem then? I will try again then, thx mate.
Thanks, all who responded.

If you want a little tip to make solo torch running within the time limit easier, make sure you use the catapults to kill the mobs waiting outside the fort before killing the boss and triggering cutscene/time limit.
It's a lot easier for one person to do if there are no Giant Stomp knockdowns

I took Little Thom with me so Charge was of immense help.
Just redid the mission and watched the cut scene and right enough I got the bonus.
And Mouse, nice tip!
